My body is like the moon which is melting for Love, My heart like Zuhra's lute--may its strings be broken! Look not on the moon's waning nor on Zuhra's broken state: Behold the sweetness of His affection--may it wax a thousandfold!

✨ To meditate on today
According to Rumi, the lover’s heart may seem fragile, like the waning moon or the lute of Zuhra (the planet Venus, which Persian poetry imagines as a heavenly musician) with its broken strings; but he invites us not to dwell on these weaknesses and to contemplate instead the sweetness of God’s affection, which can grow a thousandfold. Today, when you feel tired or worn, turn your gaze for a moment away from what you lack and name a sweetness you have received from Him.
