Lesson 157

Palatial dwellings are of no use to them.

Excerpt

Horses have hoofs to carry them over frost and snow; hair, to protect them from wind and cold. They eat grass and drink water, and fling up their heels over the champaign. Such is the real nature of horses. Palatial dwellings are of no use to them.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Chuang Tzu, horses are made to run in the snow and graze freely: palaces and human comforts bring them nothing, for their happiness lies in their nature. Today, give yourself a simple and natural moment, walking outside, drinking water slowly, stretching, and notice how little you need to feel well.
