Lesson 297

Acknowledge the mercy and beneficence of God!

Excerpt

He spoke to them, saying, "O stricken ones! The desires of all of you have been granted by God; Arise, walk without pain or affliction, Acknowledge the mercy and beneficence of God!" Then all, as camels whose feet are shackled, When you loose their feet in the road, Straightway rush in joy and delight to the halting-place, So did they run upon their feet at his command.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Rumi, the Persian Sufi poet, ʿIsa (Jesus, a prophet in Islam), after his prayer, goes out to the sick waiting at his door and announces to them that God has granted their wishes: set free, they run for joy like camels whose shackles have been loosed. Today, bring a word of hope to someone who is discouraged, and thank God for a healing or a relief you have received.
