Excerpt

Let me contemplate Him, who bestowed this life upon me, Narayana, the life of the world; I will sing His attributes. Him who stands by the Bhima, hand on hip, whose even feet are lovely to see, Him I will clasp within me.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Tukaram, the poet-saint of Maharashtra, life itself is a gift from Narayana, a name of God that here means “the life of the world”; he contemplates Him standing on the bank of the Bhima, the river of his pilgrimage to Pandharpur, and wants to hold Him close in his heart. Today, at some moment of your day, place your hand on your chest, feel that you are alive, and say thank you to the One who gave you this life.
