Verily in the beginning this was Brahman, that Brahman knew its Self only, saying, ‘I am Brahman.’ From It all this sprang. Thus, whatever Deva was awakened, he indeed became that; and the same with Rishis and men. The Rishi Vamadeva saw and understood it, singing, ‘I was Manu, I was the sun.’

✨ To meditate on today
According to the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, in the beginning all was Brahman, the one Reality, and every being who awakens to this truth, god (Deva), sage (Rishi) or ordinary human, discovers that he is That; so the sage Vamadeva sang: “I was Manu, the first man, I was the sun.” Today, as you look at the sun or the sky, tell yourself softly: “This too is my Self.”
