Lesson 177

Râma took and lifted him up, and again and again clasped him to His bosom.

Excerpt

Having thus reflected, Nârad with his lute in his hand approached the spot where the Lord was sitting at ease. In dulcet tones he sang His acts, affectionately dwelling upon them in all detail. As he prostrated himself, Râma took and lifted him up, and again and again clasped him to His bosom and asked him of his welfare and seated him by His side.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Tulsidas, when the sage Nârad, singer of divine praises, bows down before Râma, God incarnate in the Ramayana, Râma lifts him up and clasps him to His heart: God welcomes with tenderness whoever comes to Him. Today, welcome someone with that same warmth: lift them up with a word, a gesture or sincere attention.
