Lesson 179

The ideal of man is to see God in everything.

Excerpt

So never mind these failures, these little backslidings; hold the ideal a thousand times, and if you fail a thousand times, make the attempt once more. The ideal of man is to see God in everything. But if you cannot see Him in everything, see Him in one thing, in that thing which you like best, and then see Him in another. So on you can go. There is infinite life before the soul. Take your time and you will achieve your end.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Swami Vivekananda, the ideal is to see God in everything; if that is too hard, we can begin by seeing Him in what we love most, then in another thing, without being discouraged by failures, for an infinite life opens before the soul. Today, choose the person or thing you love most and look at it as a reflection of God, then try to extend that gaze to a second one.
