Lesson 299

What feast can I offer my Sisters but a spiritual one of sweet and joyful charity!

Excerpt

What feast can I offer my Sisters but a spiritual one of sweet and joyful charity! I know none other, and I wish to imitate St. Paul, who rejoiced with those who rejoiced. It is true that he wept with those who wept, and at my feast, too, the tears must sometimes fall, still I shall always try to change them into smiles, for "God loveth a cheerful giver."

✨ To meditate on today

According to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, the finest “feast” we can offer those who live with us is a sweet and joyful charity: to rejoice with those who rejoice and, when tears come, to try to change them into smiles, for “God loveth a cheerful giver”. Today, at the table or in a meeting, offer someone sad or tired a joyful attention: a kind word, a smile, a service gladly given.
