Lesson 108

Under the shadow of Thy wings let us hope; protect us, and carry us.

Excerpt

Or what hindrance was a far slower wit to Thy little ones, since they departed not far from Thee, that in the nest of Thy Church they might securely be fledged, and nourish the wings of charity, by the food of a sound faith. O Lord our God, under the shadow of Thy wings let us hope; protect us, and carry us.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Saint Augustine, the “little ones” who stay close to God grow safely in the Church like fledglings in the nest, until the wings of charity grow on them, and God carries them. Today, if you feel slow or small, do not compare yourself: stay close to God through a short prayer and let yourself be carried, simply doing the good within your reach.
