Lesson 248

Let the bliss of thy offering also be diffused.

Excerpt

In a village of one hundred houses a single light was burning. Then a neighbor came with his lamp and lit it; and in this same way the light was communicated from house to house and the brightness in the village was increased. Thus the light of religion may be diffused without stinting him who communicates it. Let the bliss of thy offering also be diffused. Divide it.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to the Gospel of Buddha, a wandering monk (a samana) explains, through the image of a lamp lit from house to house, that the joy of a gift grows when it is shared, without taking anything away from the one who passes it on. Today, share with someone a joy, a discovery, or a piece of good news you have received, as one lamp lights another.
