Perhaps we are now ready for a day of undisturbed tranquility. If this is not yet feasible, we are content and even more than satisfied to learn how such a day can be achieved. If we give way to a disturbance, let us learn how to dismiss it and return to peace. We need but tell our minds, with certainty, The stillness of the peace of God is mine, and nothing can intrude upon the peace that God Himself has given to His Son.
Father, Your peace is mine. What need have I to fear that anything can rob me of what You would have me keep? I cannot lose Your gifts to me. And so the peace You gave Your Son is with me still, in quietness and in my own eternal love for You.
The stillness of God’s peace is yours; nothing can disturb it.
After recognizing that only divine things can satisfy you (lesson 272), this lesson offers you a day of tranquility. In the curriculum, it is an invitation to rest. Perhaps you are ready for a day of undisturbed calm. And if you are not yet ready, be content to learn how such a day can come to pass. If disturbance arises, learn to set it aside and return to peace. A simple affirmation is enough: 'The stillness of God’s peace is mine.'
The central idea is that God’s peace has been given to you, and nothing can take it away. You do not need to create it, earn it, or deserve it, it is already yours. What could you possibly fear? God’s gifts cannot be lost. The peace God gave His Son remains with you, in stillness and in your eternal love for Him. No intrusion is possible into the peace God Himself has given. It is inviolable.
This lesson is part of the series 271–275 on choice, satisfaction, and peace. It prepares for lesson 274 (this day belongs to love) and 275 (the healing voice of God). It echoes lesson 255 (I choose perfect peace) and lesson 267 (you beat in the peace of God). Peace is not a state to achieve, but a reality to recognize.
To live this lesson today, begin by declaring: 'The stillness of God’s peace is mine.' Repeat this phrase regularly. When worry, irritation, or fear arises, do not fight it. Simply say: 'This is not my peace. My peace is in God.' Then return to the declaration. Notice how disturbances lose their power when you refuse to cling to them. By the end of the day, you will see how much more peaceful it has been than you thought possible.
The peace God gives is not fragile. It is stronger than all the world’s storms. It is in you, unshakable, eternal. Today, stop seeking it and simply recognize it.
