Father, You stand before me and behind, beside me, in the place I see myself, and everywhere I go. You are in all the things I look upon, the sounds I hear, and every hand that reaches for my own. In You time disappears, and place becomes a meaningless belief. For what surrounds Your Son and keeps him safe is Love Itself. There is no Source but This, and nothing is that does not share Its holiness;that stands beyond Your one creation, or without the Love Which holds all things within Itself. Father, Your Son is like Yourself. We come to You in Your own Name today, to be at peace within Your everlasting Love.

After tasting holy vision (lesson 263), this lesson reveals the constant presence that surrounds you. In the curriculum, it is a lesson of deep comfort. God is not far from you, in some distant heaven. He stands before you, behind you, beside you, where you see yourself, and wherever you go. He is in all things you look upon, in the sounds you hear, in every hand that reaches out to take yours.
The central idea is that nothing can exist outside God’s Love. In Him, time vanishes and place becomes meaningless. What surrounds the Son and keeps him safe is Love itself. There is no other Source. Nothing stands beyond His creation. The Son of God is like Himself. The prayer of salvation invites all your brothers to join you in coming to God in His Own Name, to be at peace in His eternal Love.
This lesson naturally follows lesson 263 (holy vision) and prepares lesson 265 (the gentleness of creation). It also reinforces earlier lessons on security (244, 261). If God’s Love is everywhere, then you are always safe, always loved, always at home. This awareness is the foundation of everything, it transforms fear into absolute trust.
To live this lesson today, become aware of God’s presence around you. When you are at home, feel Him in the walls. When you walk the street, feel Him in the air. When you speak to someone, feel Him between you. Each time you reach out to touch something, remember you are touching God’s Love. Every sound you hear is God speaking to you. Let this ever-present awareness transform your experience of the world.
You are never alone. At every instant, in every place, God’s Love surrounds you like a soft blanket. Nothing can reach you that has not first passed through this Love.
