Father, You have one Son. And it is he that I would look upon today. He is Your one creation. Why should I perceive a thousand forms in what remains as one? Why should I give this one a thousand names, when only one suffices? For Your Son must bear Your Name, for You created him. Let me not see him as a stranger to his Father, nor as stranger to myself. For he is part of me and I of him, and we are part of You Who are our Source, eternally united in Your Love; eternally the holy Son of God.
We who are one would recognize this day the truth about ourselves. We would come home, and rest in unity. For there is peace, and nowhere else can peace be sought and found.

Beyond differences, see the one Son of God.
After finding your refuge in God (lesson 261), this lesson teaches you to see as God sees. In the curriculum, it is a lesson in deep vision. The world shows you thousands of different forms: races, cultures, personalities, beliefs. But this lesson asks: why perceive thousands of forms in what remains one? The Father has only one Son, and it is Him you are looking at in everyone.
The central idea is that perceiving differences is an illusion. The Father has one Son. Why give Him thousands of names when one is enough? This Son bears the Name of God. He is no stranger to His Father, nor to you. He is part of you, and you are part of Him. All are part of God, the Source, eternally united in His Love. Peace is found in recognizing this unity. Nowhere else can peace be found.
This lesson continues the lessons on identity and security. It prepares lesson 263 on holy vision that sees all things as pure. It connects with lesson 259 (there is no sin): if you see differences, you see where sin could exist. By seeing unity, you affirm that only God is. The following lessons (263–265) will deepen this quality of vision.
To live this lesson today, each time you meet someone, look beyond appearances. Do not see their age, gender, color, or status. See only the Son of God. When you look in the mirror, look beyond your face, see the same Son of God. When the temptation to judge based on differences arises, remember: 'There is only one Son, and it is him I am looking at.' Let unity replace division in your perception.
The differences you see are veils hiding the truth. Lift these veils today and see: there is only one Son, there is only one Love, there is only one God.
