I will identify with what I think is refuge and security. I will behold myself where I perceive my strength, and think I live within the citadel where I am safe, and cannot be attacked. Let me today seek not security in danger, nor attempt to find my peace in murderous attack. I live in God. In Him I find my refuge and my strength. In Him is my Identity. In Him is everlasting peace. And only there will I remember Who I really am.
Let me not seek for idols. I would come, my Father, home to You today. I choose to be asYou created me, and find the Son whom You created as my Self.

God is your refuge, your security, seek nowhere else.
After remembering that God created you (lesson 260), this lesson addresses the practical question of security. In the curriculum, it deepens lesson 244. You have learned you are in danger nowhere, but now you must choose where to place your trust. You identify with what you believe is your refuge. If you seek security in money, relationships, or health, you are seeking in danger. The only true refuge is God.
The central idea is that you live in God, and only there do you find strength and identity. Do not seek security in danger today, nor peace in attack. Do not seek idols. Choose to be as God created you, and to find the Son He created as your Self. In Him is eternal peace, and only there will you remember Who you truly are. Idols, everything you place in God’s stead, can only disappoint.
This lesson builds directly on lesson 260 (remember that God created you) and reinforces lesson 244 (I am not in danger anywhere). It prepares lessons 262–264 on vision that sees unity beyond differences and recognizes God’s omnipresent Love. It is a lesson in discernment: learning to distinguish true refuges from false ones, so you never again place your security where it cannot be.
Practically today, consciously identify each thing where you place your security. Is it your bank account? Your health? A relationship? Your job? For each, say: 'This is not my security. My security is in God alone.' Do not reject these things, they have their place, but stop believing they truly protect you. When fear arises about any of them, remember: 'God is my refuge. In Him I am safe.'
Do not seek security in a changing world. The only refuge that will never fail is God. In Him, you are home forever.
