Lesson 225
Lesson 225

God is my Father, and His Son loves Him.

Father, I must return Your Love for me. For giving and receiving are the same, and You have given all Your Love to me. I must return It, for I want It mine in full awareness, blazing in my mind, and keeping it within Its kindly light, inviolate, beloved, with fear behind and only peace ahead. How still the way Your loving Son is led along to You!

Brother, we find that stillness now. The way is open. Now we follow it in peace together. You have reached your hand to me, and I will never leave you. We are one, and it is but this oneness that we seek as we accomplish these few final steps which end a journey that was not begun.

✨ Summary & practice

God is your Father, and you love Him in return

This lesson is the counterpart to the previous one: after recognizing that God is your Father and loves you, you now recognize that you love Him in return. Love is a relationship of perfect reciprocity. "Father, I must return the Love You have for me, for giving and receiving are the same, and You have given me all Your Love." You are not merely a passive vessel of divine love. You are called to return this love, not because God needs it, but because it is in returning it that you fully possess it. Love circulated is love lived; love withheld is love lost.

The lesson beautifully describes what it means to return love: "I must return it, for I would have it fully conscious in me, burning in my mind and holding it in its gentle light, unviolated, beloved, with fear behind and only peace ahead." To return love to God is not to offer Him something He lacks, but to let love burn within you as a gentle, constant fire.

The second part of the lesson speaks directly to your brother: "Brother, we find this calm now. The way is open. Now we follow it together in peace. You have reached out your hand, and I will never leave you. We are one, and we seek only this unity, as we take these final steps that end a journey that was never begun." These words are of infinite tenderness.

Practice:

Today, in silence, repeat: "God is my Father, and I love Him." Let this love flow within you. Then extend it to all you meet, thinking: "You too are God's child, and I love you as my brother." When fear or conflict arise, remember that your love for God and your love for your brother are one. In loving your brother, you return to God the love He gave you. The way is open, peace awaits you.

God's love is not complete without your love in return: by loving Him, you complete the circle of creation and become what you have always been.
