I was mistaken when I thought I lived apart from God, a separate entity which moved in isolation, unattached, and housed within a body. Now I know my life is God's, I have no other home, and I do not exist apart from Him. He has no Thoughts that are not part of me, and I have none but Those which are of Him.
Our Father, let us see the face of Christ instead of our mistakes. For we who are Your holy Son are sinless. We would look upon our sinlessness, for guilt proclaims that we are not Your Son. And we would not forget You longer. We are lonely here, and long for Heaven, where we are at home. Today we would return. Our Name is Yours, and we acknowledge that we are Your Son.
God is your life. There is no other.
This lesson corrects the fundamental error at the root of all illusions: believing you can live apart from God. "I was wrong when I thought I lived apart from God, a separate entity moving in isolation, detached and housed in a body." This is the error recognized: the idea that you could be a small, independent thing, a body with its own will, a life that belongs solely to you.
The correction is radical: "Now I know that my life is God's life, that I have no other home and do not exist apart from Him. He has no Thoughts that are not part of me, and I have no thoughts but His." This is not a mystical union to attain, but a reality to recognize.
The prayer that follows is a request for vision: "Let us see the face of Christ instead of our errors. For we who are Your holy Son are without sin. We would look upon our perfection, for guilt declares that we are not Your Son."
Practice:
Today, whenever you feel vulnerable, limited, or alone, remember: "I have no life apart from God. His life is my life." When fear of death or loss passes through you, remember you live by God's eternal life, which cannot die. Look at your reflection in a mirror and say: "This body is not my life."
You are not a separate drop from the ocean: you are the entire ocean experiencing itself as a drop for a moment, before recognizing its true immensity.
