Lesson 331

It may be named in the greatest things.

Excerpt

All things return (to their root and disappear), and do not know that It is It which presides over their doing so;--It may be named in the greatest things. Hence the sage is able (in the same way) to accomplish his great achievements. It is through his not making himself great that he can accomplish them.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Lao Tzu, the Tao is great precisely because It does not set Itself up as master, and the sage, in Its image, accomplishes great things because he never considers himself great. Today, when someone congratulates you or something goes well for you, receive it simply, then turn your attention to what others have contributed.
