Lesson 80

Thou possessest so great a treasure, and we knew it not when we met thee!

Excerpt

Rabbi Yessa approached the young boy and kissed him, saying: Thou possessest so great a treasure, and we knew it not when we met thee! I wish to turn back and accompany thee. Then all three took the same road. Rabbi Hizqiya said: The Shekhinah accompanies us on this journey, since She favours us by permitting us to learn these mysteries which were unknown to us.

According to the Zohar, the great book of Jewish mysticism, some masters discover that a young boy met on the road carries an unsuspected wisdom; they embrace him, travel with him and feel that the Shekhinah, the divine Presence, accompanies them. Today, look at someone you meet the way one looks when expecting to discover a treasure, and tell them what you appreciate in them.
