Lesson 71

Let Thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, According as we have waited for Thee.

Excerpt

Our soul hath waited for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. For in Him doth our heart rejoice, Because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, According as we have waited for Thee.

✨ To meditate on today

According to the psalmist, the soul that waits for the LORD finds in Him help, protection and joy, and can confidently ask Him that His goodness rest upon it. Today, in a moment of waiting (a queue, a commute, a reply that is slow to come), turn impatience into trust by repeating inwardly: “Let Thy mercy be upon us.”
