Lesson 254

Enlarge the place of thy tent, And let them stretch forth the curtains of thy habitations, spare not.

Excerpt

Enlarge the place of thy tent, And let them stretch forth the curtains of thy habitations, spare not; Lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. For thou shalt spread abroad on the right hand and on the left; And thy seed shall possess the nations, And make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Isaiah, the prophet, who speaks to Jerusalem as to a mother long forsaken, the promised life is so abundant that one must enlarge one’s tent to welcome it; “possessing the nations” here announces children so numerous that they will fill cities left empty. Today, enlarge your “tent”: make room in your heart or in your home for someone.
