Rabbi Isaac says: The light which the Holy One, blessed be He, poured into the world at the time of creation shed its brightness from one end of the earth to the other; but it was hidden thereafter. Why was it hidden?—So that the sinners of this world might not enjoy it. God hid it for the Just One; that is, for the supremely Just One, of whom Scripture says: “Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.”

✨ To meditate on today
According to the Zohar, the light of creation, which lit the world from one end to the other, has not disappeared: God has stored it up for the righteous, as the verse says, “Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.” Today, do one upright and discreet act, without seeking to be seen, and notice the quiet joy it kindles in you.
