Mantic uttaïr, Allegorical anecdote (3)

A worthy man said: “For seventy years I have been constantly in ecstasy, in contentment and happiness! And in this state I partake of sovereign majesty and unite myself with Divinity itself. But while you are occupied in seeking out the faults of others, how will you rejoice in the beauty of the invisible world? If you seek out faults with a scrutinizing eye, how will you ever be able to see invisible things? First rid yourself of your own faults, then be truly a king through love of invisible things. You split a hair in two over the faults of others, but are blind to your own faults. Attend to your own shortcomings: then, even if you have been guilty, you will be accepted by God.”
