Mantic uttaïr, Allegorical Anecdote (2)

A devotee said: “It is advantageous for a novice to be in darkness. Indeed, so long as he is not wholly lost in the ocean of divine goodness, no direction exists for him; for, if anything appears manifest to him, he is seduced by it and then becomes an infidel.”
The envy and anger within Thee are seen by the eyes of men, and not by Thine own. Thou hast a corner of Thy being full of dragons, and through negligence Thou hast released them. Thou hast tended them day and night, cherished and fed them! Now, if Thou perceivest impurity within thee, why remain thus heedless?
