My mercy equals that of a hundred fathers and mothers; Every soul that is born is amazed thereat. Their mercy is as the foam of the sea of My mercy; It is mere foam of waves, but the Sea abides ever!

According to Rûmî in the Masnavi, God Himself declares that His mercy equals that of a hundred fathers and mothers, and that all human tenderness is only the foam on the waves of the ocean of His mercy. Today, remember the tenderness of a parent or a loved one, and see in it a drop of that ocean; then offer a little of that tenderness yourself to someone.
