The joys of union with the Spiritual Beloved are inexpressible in speech. In short, the King cherished him lovingly, And he like a moon waned in that sun. That waning of lovers makes them wax stronger, Just as the moon waxes brighter after waning.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Rumi, at the end of the story of the three princes, the eldest prince, who had not obtained the king’s daughter, found something far greater: union with the King, an image of God, who cherished him lovingly; just as the moon shines brighter after waning, the lover grows by fading into love. Today, give up a small thing you wanted for yourself, a place, the last word, and offer it out of love, tasting what this gift makes grow within you.
