The part and the whole have been lost in thy essence. Look not, therefore, upon thyself with contempt, for nothing is above it. Thy body is the part of the whole, and thy soul is the whole entire. Do not, therefore, abase thyself in thine own eyes. By knowing thy whole, thy part is revealed unto thee.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Attar, the Persian Sufi poet, the human being has an immense dignity: the soul contains the whole, and nothing is above its essence; that is why one must never look upon oneself with contempt or abase oneself in one’s own eyes. Today, each time an inner voice belittles you, replace it with a gentle word toward yourself, the way God looks at you.
