'Her of the lovesick eyelids': he means the Presence desired by gnostics. Although she is too sublime to be known and loved, she inclines towards them in mercy and kindness and descends into their hearts by a sort of manifestation.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Ibn Arabi, who comments here on his own love poem, the beloved he sings of is the divine Presence sought by the gnostics — those who want to know God through the heart —: too high to be grasped, she nonetheless inclines towards them in mercy and comes down into their hearts. Today, take a quiet moment, open your hands on your knees and welcome this kindness that comes toward you, without trying to deserve it.
