According to Attar, a Persian Sufi poet, the shadow is the visible world and the sun is the Simurgh, the king-bird that stands for God: when the shadow is lost in the sun, you discover that the divine light also shines in you. Today, when you feel small or worthless, remember that light and make a gesture that lets it shine toward someone.
