My servant seeks proximity to Me, that I may make him My friend.

According to Ghazali, who quotes here a word of God handed down by the Prophet (a hadith), God makes His friend of the one who seeks to draw near to Him, to the point of dwelling in his hearing, his sight and his words. Today, before you listen or speak to someone, take one second to turn toward God, and let that closeness soften what you hear and what you say.
