According to Saadi, a sage who was asked which is better, courage or liberality, answered that whoever is generous has no need of courage: kindness disarms and opens hearts better than force. Today, facing tension with someone, respond with a generous gesture (a service, a sharing, a sincere compliment) rather than with a show of strength.
