They said, 'The suns are in the heavenly sphere.' Where should the sun dwell but in heaven? When a throne is set up, there must be a king to sit erect upon it. When the heart is purged of its ignorance, then must the angel descend.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Ibn Arabi, who himself comments on this poem, these “suns” are the divine radiance, and the heaven where they dwell is the heart: just as a throne calls for a king, a heart purified of ignorance calls for the descent of the angel, that is, of spiritual inspirations. Today, prepare your heart as one prepares a house for a guest: give up a judgement or a grudge, and leave room for an inspiration of peace.
