Lesson 131

This light alters not nor varies and is void of change or degree.

Excerpt

You fancy this world is permanent of itself And endures because of its own nature, But really it is a ray of light from the Truth And within it the Truth is concealed. And this light alters not nor varies And is void of change or degree. If the sun tarried always in one spot, And ever shone in the same degree, None would know that the light comes from him.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Shabistari, a Persian Sufi poet, the world does not stand by itself: it is a ray of the light of God, whom he calls the Truth, and this Truth remains hidden within it; it is precisely because things change that one senses the unchanging light that makes them shine. Today, before what changes (the light of day, a mood, a face), look for what remains steady behind it, and thank the Source of that light.
