Lesson 130

Me Thou for ever hast affirmed, that I may ever know Thee mine.

Excerpt

Thou hast my Being taken on, And shall not I now take on Thine? Me Thou for ever hast affirmed, That I may ever know Thee mine. Thy Love has pierced me through and through, Its Thrill with Bone and Nerve entwine. I rest a Flute laid on Thy Lips; A Lute I on Thy Breast recline. Breathe deep in me that I may sigh; Yet strike my Strings, and Tears shall shine.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Rumi, the soul that loves God becomes like a flute laid on His lips or a lute against His breast: it is His breath that makes it sing, and His touch that makes even its tears shine. Today, before speaking or acting at an important moment, breathe deeply and ask God that it be His breath that passes through you.
