Make sacrifice of reason to love of "The Friend," True reason is to be found where He is. Men of wisdom direct their reason heavenwards, Vain babblers halt on earth where no "Friend" is. If through bewilderment your reason quits your head, Every hair of your head becomes true reason and a head.

According to Rûmî in the Masnavi, true intelligence is turned toward "the Friend", that is, God: when the mind lets itself be seized with wonder before Him, instead of shutting itself up in vain babble, it is not lost but enlarged, so much that "every hair becomes reason". Today, before a decision, instead of only calculating, ask yourself what the love of God suggests to you, and let that answer guide your choice.
