Lesson 73

The source of the mental functions must be sought and gained.

Excerpt

The source of the mental functions must be sought and gained. That is the Reality. One does not know the Self owing to the interference of thoughts. The Self is realised when thoughts subside.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Ramana Maharshi, we do not find the mind by looking at it as an object: we must go back to the source from which thoughts arise, and that source is Reality, the Self revealed when thoughts grow calm. Today, when a thought arises, gently ask yourself “where does it come from?” and rest for a moment in the silence that follows.
