A particle of hail falling on the surface of the sea melts away and becomes water, wave, froth, etc., in the sea. Similarly, the subtle intellect, rising up as the tiny dot (ego) from the heart and bulging out, finally enters into and becomes one with the Heart.

According to Ramana Maharshi, the ego is like a tiny drop rising from the Heart, that is, from the Self, and it finally melts back into it, as a hailstone becomes the sea it falls into. Today, when you feel tense and closed in on yourself, picture that hailstone dissolving in the water, and let your shoulders and your breathing relax in the same way.
