Lesson 47

Be not afraid if you are not perfect in all of these; work, they will come.

Excerpt

Chastity, non-injury, forgiving even the greatest enemy, truth, faith in the Lord, these are all different Vrittis. Be not afraid if you are not perfect in all of these; work, they will come. He who has given up all attachment, all fear, and all anger, he whose whole soul has gone unto the Lord, he who has taken refuge in the Lord, whose heart has become purified, with whatsoever desire he comes to the Lord, He will grant that to him.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Swami Vivekananda, chastity, non-injury, forgiving even the greatest enemy, truth and faith in the Lord are Vrittis, dispositions of the mind to cultivate, and there is no need to be afraid of not yet having them perfectly: by carrying on, they come. Today, choose just one of these qualities, forgiveness or truth for example, and practise it once, concretely, with someone.
