Lesson 253

From the tree of the Cross the heart of our Lord Jesus saw yours, and loved it.

Excerpt

Think well upon it, my Philothea: it is certain that from the tree of the Cross the heart of our Lord Jesus saw yours, and loved it; and that by this love He obtained for it all the good things you have received, and ever shall receive, among them your resolutions. Yes, dear Philothea, we can all say with Jeremiah: O Lord, before I was, Thou didst regard me, and call me by my name; therefore it was indeed He who, in His love and mercy, prepared for us all the general and particular means we have for our salvation, and consequently our dear resolutions.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Saint Francis de Sales, who addresses “Philothea” (the one who loves God, that is, every reader), Jesus on the cross already saw your heart and loved it, and He has always prepared for you everything that helps you grow. Today, notice a help you have received or a good resolution in your life, and welcome it as a sign of this love that knows you by your name.
