Lesson 217

When thou hast removed the beam from thine eye, then shalt thou see clearly.

Excerpt

Thou seest the speck that is in thy brother’s eye, but thou seest not the beam that is in thine own eye. When thou hast removed the beam from thine eye, then shalt thou see clearly enough to remove the splinter from thy brother’s eye.

✨ To meditate on today

According to the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus invites us to look within first: removing the “beam” from our own eye makes our view of others clearer and gentler. Today, when someone’s fault strikes you, breathe and kindly ask yourself what it teaches you about yourself, before making the slightest remark.
