The fire of heaven shall quickly, instantaneously be quenched.

Excerpt

If a heavy thunderbolt shoots from a cloud pregnant with lightning and thunder, one has but to think of Avalokitesvara, and the fire of heaven shall quickly, instantaneously be quenched. He with his powerful knowledge beholds all creatures who are beset with many hundreds of troubles and afflicted by many sorrows, and thereby is a saviour in the world, including the gods.

✨ To meditate on today

According to the Lotus Sutra, Avalokiteśvara, the bodhisattva of compassion (an awakened being who has vowed to help all others), sees all creatures weighed down by troubles, and one has only to remember him for the storm to calm. Today, when a storm rises in you, anger, fear or agitation, remember compassion, for yourself as for the other, and let it calm the storm before you speak or act.
