Let a man overcome anger by love, let him overcome evil by good; let him overcome the greedy by liberality, the liar by truth! For hatred does not cease by hatred at any time; hatred ceases by not-hatred, this is an old rule.

โจ To meditate on today
According to The Gospel of Buddha, which here takes up the Dhammapada, anger is not overcome by anger, nor evil by evil: hatred only dies out when someone stops feeding it and responds with love, goodness, generosity and truth. Today, if someone is harsh with you, answer at least once with gentleness instead of harshness, and notice what changes.
