Lesson 240

The charitable man has found the path of salvation.

Excerpt

Loving and compassionate he gives with reverence and banishes all hatred, envy, and anger. The charitable man has found the path of salvation. He is like the man who plants a sapling, securing thereby the shade, the flowers, and the fruit in future years. Even so is the result of charity, even so is the joy of him who helps those that are in need of assistance; even so is the great Nirvāna.

✨ To meditate on today

According to the Gospel of Buddha, the one who gives with love and without anger is like someone who plants a sapling: he prepares shade, flowers and fruit for the years to come, and himself finds joy and peace. Today, “plant a tree” for someone: help a person in need with a gesture they will benefit from for a long time.
