Lesson 20

The doubt I had before thou hast cleared away for me, O thou clearly-seeing.

Excerpt

Because thou sawest my longing, and carriedst me across my doubt, adoration be to thee, O Muni, who hast attained the gain in the ways of wisdom; O thou who art a true kinsman of the Adityas, thou art compassionate. The doubt I had before thou hast cleared away for me, O thou clearly-seeing; surely thou art a Muni, perfectly enlightened, there is no obstacle for thee. And all thy troubles are scattered and cut off, thou art calm, subdued, firm, truthful.

✨ To meditate on today

According to the Sutta-Nipâta, a disciple thanks the Buddha, the “Muni” (the silent sage), noble descendant of the solar lineage of the Adityas, for having carried him across his doubt with compassion, and sees in him a being who is calm, subdued and truthful. Today, think of someone who helped you out of a doubt or a dead end, and send them a note of thanks.
