Lesson 192

Having reached the shore myself, I carry others to the shore; being free, I make free; being comforted, I comfort.

Excerpt

I am the Tathagata, O ye gods and men! the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened one; having reached the shore myself, I carry others to the shore; being free, I make free; being comforted, I comfort; being perfectly at rest, I lead others to rest. By my perfect wisdom I know both this world and the next, such as they really are. I am all-knowing, all-seeing.

✨ To meditate on today

According to the Lotus of the True Law, the Buddha (the Tathagata, “the one who has thus come”) shares what he has received: being free, he makes free; being comforted, he comforts; having reached the peace of Nirvana, he leads others there. Today, think of a comfort you once received, and offer that same comfort to someone going through a difficulty.
