And it is only that which keeps me safe. Father, Your Son is holy. I am he on whom You smile in love and tenderness so deep and dear and still the universe smiles back on You, and shares Your holiness. How pure, how safe, how sacred, then, are we, abiding in Your Smile, with all Your love bestowed upon us, living one with You, in brotherhood and Fatherhood complete; in sinlessness so perfect that the Lord of Sinlessness conceives us as His Son, a universe of Thought completing Him.
Let us not, then, attack our sinlessness. For it contains the Word of God to us, and in its kind reflection we are saved.
You can attack only your own impeccability, and it is this that keeps you safe.
The Son of God is holy. You are the one to whom God smiles with such great tenderness, such deep and quiet love, that the universe smiles back at Him. How pure you are, therefore, how safe, how holy, you who dwell within His smile. You are so perfectly impeccable that the Lord of Impeccability knows you as His Son. Then do not attack your impeccability, for it holds the Word of God given to you.
The essential truth is that you cannot truly attack your impeccability, but you can believe you do. When you judge yourself, condemn yourself, feel guilty, you are attacking your immaculate nature. But this attack is an illusion, for impeccability cannot be harmed. Yet believing you can attack it causes you great suffering. The solution is simple: cease attacking what God has created perfect. Recognize that you are holy and live from that holiness.
This lesson is the counterpart to the previous one on safety. If your impeccability protects you, attacking it makes you vulnerable. Previous lessons have taught you not to hurt yourself, not to judge yourself. Now you understand why: every attack upon yourself is an attack upon the holiness of God within you. The gentle reflection of your impeccability is your salvation. It is in this reflection that you are saved, for in seeing your purity, you see yourself as God created you.
To practice this lesson today, refuse to attack yourself. Each time a thought of self-criticism, guilt, or unworthiness arises, stop it. Say: “I do not attack my impeccability. I am holy, I am pure, I am loved.” Then choose a thought of love for yourself. Treat yourself with the same gentleness you would show a child you love. You will see guilt vanish when you stop attacking yourself. In its place, a deep and gentle peace will settle.
You are holy and impeccable. Never attack this truth, for it is your safety and your joy.
