The ego makes illusions. Truth undoes its evil dreams by shining them away. Truth never makes attack. It merely is. And by its Presence is the mind recalled from fantasies, awaking to the Real. Forgiveness bids this Presence enter in, and take its rightful place within the mind. Without forgiveness is the mind in chains, believing in its own futility. Yet with forgiveness does the light shine through the dream of darkness, offering it hope, and giving it the means to realize the freedom that is its inheritance.
We would not bind the world again today. Fear holds it prisoner. And yet Your Love has given us the means to set it free. Father, we would release it now. For as we offer freedom, it is given us. And we would not remain as prisoners, while You hold out our freedom unto us.
Fear binds the world, forgiveness sets it free, choose the key.
The ego makes illusions. Truth undoes its nightmares by dissolving them in light. Truth never attacks; it simply is. And by its presence, the mind is called back from its fantasies and awakens to reality. Forgiveness invites this presence to enter and take its rightful place in the mind. Without forgiveness, the mind is chained, believing in its own futility. But with forgiveness, light shines through the dream of darkness.
The essential teaching is this: fear and forgiveness are the only two choices you have. Fear binds, forgiveness frees. Fear creates chains; forgiveness dissolves them. The world you see is either a world bound by fear or a world freed by forgiveness. You choose between them every instant. Fear tells you the world is dangerous and you must protect yourself. Forgiveness tells you the world is innocent and you can open up.
This lesson summarizes the fundamental opposition between fear and love that runs through the entire teaching. Every previous lesson has been an invitation to choose love over fear. Here, you see the concrete consequences of that choice: fear imprisons, forgiveness liberates. By offering freedom to the world, you become free yourself. For giving and receiving are one: in freeing the world through your forgiveness, you are freed.
To practice this lesson today, be aware of the moments when you bind the world with fear and when you free it with forgiveness. When you judge, you bind. When you condemn, you imprison. When you forgive, you free. Consciously choose to forgive each time fear arises. Say: 'I do not want to bind the world again. I choose forgiveness and freedom.' You will see the world around you lighten, as if a weight has lifted. This is freedom returning.
Fear binds you, forgiveness frees you. You hold the key in your hand. Open the door today.
