Lesson 307
Lesson 307

Conflicting wishes cannot be my will.

Father, Your Will is mine, and only That. There is no other will for me to have. Let me not try to make another will, for it is senseless and will cause me pain. Your Will alone can bring me happiness, and only Yours exists. If I would have what only You can give, I must accept Your Will for me, and enter into peace where conflict is impossible, Your Son is one with You in being and in will, and nothing contradicts the holy truth that I remain as You created me.

And with this prayer, we enter silently into a state where conflict cannot come, because we join our holy will with God's in recognition that they are but one.

✨ Summary & practice

Conflicting wishes cannot be your will, choose unity.

When you feel inner conflict, remember: conflicting wishes cannot be your true will. Your will is one, and it is the same as God’s Will. All inner conflict arises from the belief that you can have a will separate from His. But this belief is an illusion that brings you pain. Trying to have a will other than His is senseless and can only lead to suffering. Only His Will can bring you happiness.

The deep message is that there is only one Will in the universe, and that Will is also yours. You do not have two wills in conflict; you have one true Will and illusory wishes you mistake for will. Accepting God’s Will for you is entering a peace where conflict is impossible. It is recognizing that your being and your will are one with God. Nothing then contradicts the holy truth that you remain as you were created.

This lesson is the heart of the work on will you have been doing through many lessons. You have learned to give up your judgment, to follow instead of lead. Here, you address the very source of conflict: the belief in a separate will. Lessons on judgment, forgiveness, and peace all converge here. When your will is aligned with God’s, conflict cannot exist. Unity of will is the key to inner peace.

In practice, whenever conflict arises within you, hesitation, doubt, being torn between choices, pause and say: 'Father, Your Will is mine, and only Yours.' Do not try to resolve the conflict by thinking. Simply hand it over to God. Let His peace descend upon your troubled mind. You will discover that beyond the apparent conflict, unity awaits. The choice becomes clear when you no longer fight against God’s Will. Accept this unity today.

You, the peace of resolved conflict awaits you. Choose unity, choose God’s Will, choose joy.
