What but Christ's vision would I use today, when it can offer me a day in which I see a world so like to Heaven that an ancient memory returns to me? Today I can forget the world I made. Today I can go past all fear, and be restored to love and holiness and peace. Today I am redeemed, and born anew into a world of mercy and of care; of loving kindness and the peace of God.
And so, our Father, we return to You, remembering we never went away; remembering Your holy gifts to us. In gratitude and thankfulness we come, with empty hands and open hearts and minds, asking but what You give. We cannot make an offering sufficient for Your Son. But in Your Love the gift of Christ is his.
The gift of Christ is all you seek today, why look elsewhere?
What other vision do you use when Christ’s vision can offer you a day in which you see a world so like Heaven that an ancient memory returns? Today, you can forget the world you made with your fears and judgments. You can go beyond all fear and be brought back to love, to holiness, and to peace. This is the day of your redemption, of your rebirth into a world of mercy and care.
The central idea is that Christ’s gift contains everything you truly need. You may seek a thousand different things, security, love, recognition, happiness, but Christ’s gift contains all this and far more. It is the totality, the completeness of what you are. By accepting this gift, you no longer need to seek elsewhere. All your searches end because you have found what you were truly seeking. Christ’s gift is the vision that shows you that you are already whole.
This lesson continues the teaching on Christ’s vision and the peace He bestows. You have learned that Christ’s peace is a gift; now you discover this gift is all you need. Previous lessons have prepared you to understand that you do not need many things, but one: the vision that shows you the truth of what you are. The rest comes as a bonus. Gratitude and thankfulness are the fitting response to this infinite gift.
How to live this today? Begin your day by saying: 'The gift of Christ is all I seek today.' When a desire or worry arises, ask yourself: 'Is this greater than Christ’s gift?' If you answer honestly, you will see nothing can compare. Let go of small pursuits and focus on what matters. Return again and again to Christ’s gift. You will see the day become light, peaceful, filled with little miracles that remind you you are loved.
Remember: you come to the Father with empty hands, but an open heart. And in His Love, Christ’s gift is yours.
