Your peace surrounds me, Father. Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. It sheds its light on everyone I meet. I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. Send them to me, my Father. Let me bring Your peace with me. For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.
And so we go in peace. To all the world we give the message that we have received. And thus we come to hear the Voice of God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word;Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us.
Carry God’s peace wherever you go.
Now that you know you are safe in God (lesson 244), this lesson teaches you to become a bearer of peace. The curriculum transforms you gradually: first you receive peace, then you become the one who gives it. This is a natural evolution. The peace you have found is not meant to be kept jealously for yourself. It is meant to be shared, offered, spread around you like a light that illuminates everyone you meet.
The central idea is beautiful. God’s peace surrounds you and goes with you everywhere. It spreads its light upon all you encounter. You bring it to the afflicted, the lonely, and the fearful. You give it to those who suffer, who grieve a loss, or who believe themselves deprived of hope. By carrying this peace into the world, you hear the Voice for God speaking to you. The message you receive, you pass on, and in sharing it, you recognize God’s Love.
This lesson is the natural continuation of lesson 244: you are safe, therefore you can radiate peace. It also prepares lesson 246, where you learn that to love God is to love His Son. Carrying peace to others is exactly this: loving the Son of God in everyone. Later lessons will deepen this theme of service and giving. Peace is not to be sought, but to be carried, already present in you, ready to be given.
Practically today, become a channel of peace. When you meet someone on the street, at work, or in your family, silently offer them peace. You don’t need words. Simply, in their presence, remember that God’s peace is with you, and let it shine. If someone is angry or sad, don’t try to change them. Just carry peace. You will see how people respond differently around you.
You are a messenger of peace. Every person you meet is an opportunity to recognize the Love that unites us all.
