Father, it is today that I am free, because my will is Yours. I thought to make another will. Yet nothing that I thought apart from You exists. And I am free because I was mistaken, and did not affect my own reality at all by my illusions. Now I give them up, and lay them down before the feet of truth, to be removed forever from my mind. This is my holy instant of release. Father, I know my will is one with Yours.
And so today we ο¬nd our glad return to Heaven, which we never really left. The Son of God this day lays down his dreams. The Son of God this day comes home again, released from sin and clad in holiness, with his right mind restored to him at last.
This is the holy instant of your release
This lesson proclaims that your moment of liberation has arrived, not in some hypothetical future, but now. "Father, today I am free, because my will is Yours." Freedom is not a reward for living well, but the immediate consequence of aligning your will with God's. You thought you had a separate will, personal desires, independent goals. But this thought was only an illusion. "Nothing I have thought apart from You exists." This realization is not a loss, but immense relief: you no longer need to carry the burden of a separate will struggling against the universe.
The lesson adds a liberating truth: "I am free because I was mistaken, and I have not at all affected my own reality by my illusions." You made mistakes, you had illusions, you believed lies, but none of this touched your true reality. You remained perfect and intact in God's awareness, unchanged by your adventures in the dream.
The holy instant of release is when you recognize your will is one with God's. It is a moment outside of time, a moment of clarity where the veils of illusion fall. The lesson declares: "Thus today we find our happy return to Heaven, which we never truly left. The Son of God today lays down his dreams."
Practice:
Upon rising this morning, declare: "This is the holy instant of my release. Today I am free." Throughout the day, when a thought of guilt or fear arises, remember: "My illusions have not affected my reality. I lay them down at the feet of truth." Symbolically place these thoughts before you and watch them dissolve in the light of truth. Each time you do this, you live the holy instant of release.
The holy instant is not a special moment to wait for: it is always present, and you need only enter it by the simple decision to lay down your illusions.
